We have had solid beech tops in our kitchen for 21 years now and have been very pleased with them.
How they stand up will depend on the quality, the treatment of the tops before/during installation, and how you treat them in use.
They need to be well oiled on all sides before installation, and any cut outs well sealed.
You should avoid letting water lie on them for long periods, do not let damp pots and dishes sit on them, wipe up spills quickly.
They will need additional oiling now and again.
If they do sustain any damage (from water, stains or scratches) they can be sanded down and refinished. In 21 years we have sanded ours down twice, they are now due to be done again. Once done they will look like new again.0 -
hi there,
my wife was treating a stain on our sons clothes with Vanish. She left the towl on the wood worktop and its bleached the part of the worktop that the towel was over. Any idea's if simply applying a coloured varnish would be enough to restore the colour or do i need to do anything else?
I had also applied 3 coats of ths Ronseal worktop oil before this happened.
Any advice would be m8uch appreciated
Thanks
