Online Divorce

Hi,

Was just wondering has anyone gone for a 'quickie divorce' using online sites? After doing a very brief search, there are various sites out there offering the 'quickie divorce' for very little. Claiming that - to an extent - no solicitors need to be involved and forms etc can be dowm loaded.

Everything between my ex and I is still on very good terms and there is nothin to be debated, so this may be an option for us. The only thing is I live in N.Ireland and him England but as far as I can see as long as he starts proceedings in England then its fine.

Any advice on this service would be appreciated!!

If you go to the court office, they will give you all the forms for free. It saves paying the online divorce companies to fill them in for you. I think you may be able to download them from the court service website too.

Remember to apply for the divorce and a Financial Consent (or Clean Break) Order. The latter is necessary to stop you claiming on each others finances at a later date. If you have a big inheritance or win the lottery, you don't want him popping back up to stake a claim!
Here I go again on my own....

Hi there, I did my divorce online and it was easy-peasy, I'd highly recommend it, lol.....I think they were called Divorceonline, in or near Swindon.

It was online but I was able to speak to the solicitors handling my case, the only hiccup was when the judge in Swindon (closest court to the online company where the divorce was lodged) decided that we should have a court hearing re: finances (we agreed not to claim against each other and do a clean break order etc) and so the case was transferred to local court.

The local judge took one look, saw me - on paper more money, house in my name BUT with very young child to look after; him - no money, no property, but he was the one who'd burgered off, and just stamped the Order, so we didn't have to go to court in the end. Phew :)

    Good luck with it all.

DH divorced his wife whilst he lived in England and she in NI - easy peasy

All he need do is go to the magistrates court and ask for the paper work. He fills it in,the clerk will check its all in order, you hubby pays the court fees and away you go

Its all very easy and painless and you dont need solicitors - as long as you dont have kids and you have agreed on the financial aspects. Im not saying you cant self divorce with kids, its just a bit more form filling and convincing the judge that the children have been taken care of
