  • Can anyone tell me when at what point you're asked to pay the £270 survey fee!?
I've just completed the full application online which has been accepted.
I was expecting to be directed to some kind of payment page at the end, but wasn't!

Do they perhaps take the fee direct from the bank account details I provided?

Do you mean Valuation fee? I completed the online application on Thursday and then had 3 days to complete payment for the valuation, you just need to click on the payment button and it will take you to a new payment page

Apologies if this is not what you were asking
  • Can anyone tell me what the significance is of the 'Consent to transfer' that the Post Office ask you to be aware of when taking out their (Bristol and West's) mortgages ?

I'm assuming that ability to sell on our mortgages is standard (is this not what CDO's were that caused the credit crunch ?), but with previous mortgages it has never been brought to my attention in the same way the Post Office have ?

    Have I missed something ?

Set this up today for a deposit 20% (80% LTV) 5 year fixed 5.20% better rate than my mortgage advisor had on offer

Is 5 year a good idea? who knows

Only thing I could fault is that it has a 5% redemption, or is that pretty standard?

ive filled in the post office application online and am at the stage where they require payment of the valuation fee within 3 days, the problem is underneath it states
This credit decision is valid for 30 days
Unfortunately my current fixed rate with halifax doesnt end until september so will the mortgage offer be valid for six months or only 30 days as I had planned to delay the completion date till then and I obviously don't want to pay the valuation fee if the offer will only hold for 30 days.

    hi
anyone who has taken mortgage from PO during last few weeks?
  • I'm in the process of applying.

I applied online after 5pm on Friday (after having obtained AiP earlier that day) and they called me today to say everything looks fine with the application.

They're sending me documents to sign and have already asked the surveyor for a "re-type". They don't require any other evidence such as proof of earnings etc.... I was quite surprised.

So far, this all seems incredibly easy!

Are post office mortgages calculated with daily or annual interest? Annual is a bit dated now, surely?

    Cheers!

I cant fault them. they referred me online to an underwriter because i have an ancient notice of correction, but having applied at the weekend, the AIP was done Tuesday. I applied formally online Tuesday and it was agreed within 2 hours and it is there waiting for me to pay for my homebuyers.

    Is that a remortgage?

I did an online application for a 2-year fixed (3.79% 20% ltv) on Thursday night. Got instant approval and a phone call the next day. Suprised they didnt need any proof of income from you. We've had to send last 3 payslips, bank statements, p60's and proof of deposit!

Impressed with how smooth it's been. Constant updates by SMS or phone; surveyors are valuing on the 7th. they think we will have the offer within 2 weeks.
