Hello,
I'm driving down to London for a lecture in Covent garden next Wednesday. Need to be in Covent Garden by 5:30 and will be leaving at approx 9:30. Going by car so I am wondering where would be the best place for me to park? Should I park somewhere in the outskirts and get a tube in? Any free park and ride schemes? Any help MUCH appreciated!

There is free parking at Stanmore underground station then you can jump on the tube.
If you drive into the west end you will probably have to pay the congestion charge and parking at around £4 an hour. It will take you a long long time to get across London if its 5.30 in the afternoon you are talking about0 -
depends where you are coming in from. Most stations in the outer zones (5,6) are most likely to have free street parking nearby. If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

where are you driving from and is it 5.30pm? Stanmore is quite far.0

Stanmore is £3 per day and £1 at weekends. It is 3 minutes from Junction 4 of the M1 and really easy to access. You can then get the Stanmore tube which is the Jubilee line and stay on until Green Park and change for the Piccadily line for three stops to Covent Garden. Really really easy and no stress ; ) The return is better as you have no hassle driving and out onto the M1 within a few minutes of leaving the tube.0

Coming from the north Wigan actually so stanmore looks a good bet. Thanks!0

The tube is a good choice, you would not really enjoy driving across London in rush hour0
