Getting baby to take a bottle - any ideas?

Thanks, he is weaned and is up to three meals a day. He loves his food!
He will be in nursery from 8am and won't get home until about 6pm, so that's at least two milk feeds he will miss :-(
When my eldest went to nursery at a similar age/stage she mainly had solids/juice - she was never too keen on a bottle. agree that they tank up when they get home !0 -
Glad to have found this post as me and my wife are really struggling with our 8 month old son. My wife is due back at work soon and he just won't take a bottle of milk at all. We have tried him with a sippy cup too but to no avail. So am off to mothercare this afternoon to get some more bottles to see if we can find one that he likes (could be an expensive process)
We have also tried someone else feeding him (not even me, my sister in law) but with same result- him screaming and pushing the bottle away
So any further advice over and above what already posted greatly appreciated!
There is a difference between a sippy cup and a doidy cup. Many bf babies will take a doidy but not a sippy.

One tip I picked up from the older lady in charge of the baby room when the DDs were young was to hold the baby on your lap facing away from you, so they have their back to you. Distract them - at nursery it was the other children, at home it could be the TV. Then waft the teat towards their mouth, they open their mouth & BINGO!
She claimed it never failed - although DD2 had had a couple of bottles at home when she started p/t at nursery aged 18 weeks, she took one from this lady with no fuss at all. She said the key was the distraction and her being completely relaxed about it as she'd seen it all before!
Best of luck, whatever you decide to do.0 -
For anyone else struggling - my DS wouldn't take a bottle off anyone - so our HV suggested that when I had to go out, i'd take of my top/t-shirt i'd been wearing and give it to baby as a blanket while OH fed him, for the familiar smell - it seemed to work for us.:beer:0
