usb wireless

have rang BT helpline 3 times and they keep dialling in and get my USB wireless network operating but each time I turn off my computer it wont lift the wireless connection and hv put use cable... I am not sure what is wrong but wondered if someone on here could help me (rather than ring the helpline) to stop it reverting back to original settings

Does show - excellent signal strength
but status limited or no connectivity

is this so you can connect to your own router (like a BT hub) or is it a wireless dongle to connect to a mobile network - like a 3G mobile phone does?

Hi ...yes it is so I can use a USB wireless adapter to link to BT voyager 2500c wirelessly rather than using my ethernet cable. I have a desktop with windows XP home edition SP2.

just to add - I have read various stuff on other forums (and am now totally confused) but could this have something to do with the TCP/IP internet protocol : properties?? --- both set to obtain Ip and DNS automatically ?? I am really to chuck the USB and stick with my trusty yellow cable!

Just noticed in the network connection box that USB disconnected pressed connect but giving error 678

Goto start run type in CMD. in the black box that appears type in "netsh interface ip reset log.txt" (without the quotes) and press enter. This will rewrite some registry files, once its finished, close the black box and restart the computer, then try connecting.

If this doesn't work try reinstalling your BT modem drivers.

I have done this and it hasnt worked ... can you tell me how to reintall the BT modem drivers ??

Incidentally ... everytime I shutdown my computer and it comes back on I have to go into services.msc and start the wireless zeo config / then/ go to the properties on the wireless to enable 'use windows to config wireless' ... can this be saved without having to go through all this each time i turn off and on again?

Do you have your BT installation disk?
Put it in your cd drive uninstall, restart, reinstall.

Windows Zero Configuration should start automaticaly, go to services in my computer management, right click it choose properties, make sure it is set to start automaticaly in the drop down menu.
Next goto start/run/cmd and type in msconfig. click on the services tab scroll down to zero config and make sure there is an arrow in the box next to it.

You got a "My Computer" icon on your desktop or in the start menu. Right click on it, click manage, a box will appear. In the left hand column click services, scroll down the list for WZC.
