Will PS2 microphones work on a PS3 ?

Hi my boys have sing star on ps2 and wondered if they can use the mics on their PS3. If they can how do we set it up please?

they should do.

just plug the usb lead straight into one of the 2 usb ports on the console.

I thought PS2 mics would have the same weird PS2 connections that the controllers have?

i'm pretty sure that the mics connected into a little usb to 3.5 headphone jack box thing with a usb plug on the end

Yep, you're right... the mics plug into a usb adaptor & can be used on either PS2 or PS3...... Even the PS2 Singstar discs will play now on any PS3 (even 40gb & 80gb) as long as you have a PS3 Singstar disc to switch from........

if they work under settings > accessory settings > audio device settings, then they should work

Well you can't chat in-game yet on the PS3 & as for the video chat feature, not sure, i've never used it but i know the PSeye supposedly works well on it....

you can chat to people when playing online, but the people you want to talk to have to be in the same game as you

Hi there, PS3 update V 2.70 (available now) allows you to chat to friends even if they are playing different games. See this link for more info.

Must say Singstar is good fun, even with a cr*p voice like mine!

PS - must big up Sony for customer service. Called them this afternoon as PS3 is poorly (left usb port not working) and they are sending a replacement tomorrow (PS3 not usb port!)
