    5 YEAR RATES 25th June
    Swap 3.66
    Gilt 2.52

Gilts are now almost 0.5% lower than their peak on 11th June. Swaps are only 0.17% lower, which is interesting as you would normally expect swaps to track gilts quite closely.

    Here is my latest chart:

Data thanks to FT.com and Inspector Monkfish
  • meanwhile, LIBOrs continue to fall...

  • here are some interesting figures

last BOE rate cut was 5th March from 1.00 to 0.50pct

taking things from the next day (6th March), so the new rate cut can be taken into account.....

1mth libor has fallen from 1.27 to 0.65375 (62 basis points)
    2mth libor has fallen from 1.73625 to 0.9875 (75bp)
    3mth libor has fallen from 1.95063 to 1.19125 (76bp)
    6mth libor has fallen from 2.14375 to 1.40875 (74bp)
    9mth libor has fallen from 2.24313 to 1.56 (68bp)
    12mth libor has fallen from 2.30875 to 1.695 (61bp)

LIBOR is a means of funding for many corporate loans, as well as interbank lending, so many companies are benefiting from these ultra low rates

Tell that to the lenders who are busily raising fixed rate mortgage rates. Or would they already know, by any remote chance..?
