I have just had the same problem, please read my other response to a thread on the same subject.
I had five footprints on my file after going on confused.com, my point is, i only went on out of interest, why did they have to do 5!!!! searches, why not one and why any in fact at this stage, i did not actually want to take out the insurance at this time, so why not do it then when i do. Grrrrr. it is so annoying that these days you have to chase your tale because of all these dodgy companies who do not tell you what they are doing, or like you say put it in small print, who actually has the time to read the complicated terms and conditions. It gets me so annoyed.
