Hi, not a grouse but feeling a little annoyed at myself and at 2 savings institutes.
The story;
I have invested since retirement probably £150k in separate bank accounts, This was 1 to 2 years back so all are obviously being shifted again. No problems at all except this one.
Had £3900 with Mansfield BS, an isa fund. Organised a transfer to a northern rock fixed rate isa. Informed nr that there was a 30 day notice on the mansfield account. The transfer went ahead, mansfield asked for the passbook back which was done by return of post.
Got a call from northern rock to the effect that the transfer had taken 32 days and as such was outside their 30 day offer and the edition was closed. Argued to no effect that I had informed them that there was a 30 day notice period, thyey admitted that, but would not budge and rejected the money and returned it back to mansfield.
Mansfield then call to say we cannot reopen the account without a written request, which they suggest we take in to avoid delays.
So wifey takes in a note to the effect that we want the account reopening and including the proviso that it will be closed as soon as possible after the NEW 30 day notice period that they had imposed.
Not good enough they wanted 2 forms of identification and the passbook.
The passbook had been returned to us as "cancelled" and as such was shreded.
They charged £10 for a new passbook.
