Help me choose an estate agent

Our current chain looks likely to collapse. The person at the top of the chain is still not yet willing to exchange contracts and the first time buyers at the other end of the chain are about to find a different property. No-one in the middle is prepared to exchange on their sale without exchanging on their purcdhase. We are in the centre of this 5 links long chain. Our sellers will wait for us to find a new buyer if necessary. Our buyer keeps telling us it took him 2 years to find a buyer, so if he loses the FTBs he won't be any use to me.

We are buying through estate agent S. As it happens he also sold our buyer's property and will presumably be selling it again if the FTBs do drop out, though they may decide to go with S & V. We sold through agent V.

Trying to think logically on this. If we put our house on the market with agent S will he put all the effort into selling our house as he wants to get the commission on our purchase? Or should I go with agent V?

Really our buyers should go with agent V so that the agent will want to sell their property because he will be getting commission on our house as well if sells their house. But if he does there is no point the agent trying to sell ours because he already has our buyer lined up as soon as he sells our buyer's house.

So maybe we should go with the opposite agent to our current buyers to make sure they try and sell our house instead of just his?

(Agents are very different in style but both independents, both seem successful in selling in the area.)
