Joint Account - is this right?

I agree with the above, she must be using his login to access the joint account, which is bringing up his personal account, moving the money to the joint account, then logging back into her personal account which is also bringing up the joint account, then moving the money into her own.
They should both have been given individual logins to the joint account. If he's given her his login info he probably doesn't have a leg to stand on.
He needs to contact the bank and reset his login details.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
The husband has been negligent. His wife knows his bank details. I do not think the bank is at fault................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Thank you all for your replies. Those who suggested she had his logon details were correct, she opened all the post and he wasn't as vigilant as he should have been (at the beginning of a marriage I guess you hope that you don't need to be!).
Anyway, not the bank's fault and they have done all they can to help.
Thanks for your help.

That doesn't make any sense, really. The bank never posts you all of your logon details, she might have had his user ID or something but she should never have had his passwords.0 -

I agree when my OH and I had our joint account opened I wasn't with the bank. SO I did all my login passwords etc in the bank they weren't sent to me in the post.
Well I think a lesson has been learnt by your poor friend.:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

I think this is just a lesson in protecting private information. It sounds like when he set up his internet banking he may have used obvious personal details (mother's maiden name) and perhaps a password she knew, or something. My OH (against all my advice!) uses the same password for email, Facebook etc. I know his PIN number too! He is better with his online banking, but has still revealed enough to me that I could probably log in, if I was lucky with the security questions. Given that joints accounts can usually be emptied by a single account holder, holders of joint accounts should all be very careful to protect what goes into that account, and should protect private information more carefully.
A sad story though, and one that the chap in question should certainly take advice on, particularly if there is more financial negotiation to come. Best of luck with the rest of the separation and yours lives together.0 -
We bank with NatWest. We have joint a/c, my hubby has private account and I have saving account with them.
On my internet banking I can see ONLY MINE & JOINT and I know for fact that he cannot see my savings account as it is solely in my name..
Unless when he opened the private account he didn't give her access (some people do, in case something happens to him), she shouldn't see it.
I would contact his bank and ask how is this possible.0 -

This is now a criminal matter. Get your other half to involve the police. Inform the bank of the theft.0
