Not sure this is the right place to ask this question, but after much 'research' I decided I was going to buy a Toshiba Satellite L300-1AQ. It had 2Mb RAM that was upgradeable to 8Mb, 250GB Hard Drive, Intel Core Duo Processor (T5800), Webcam and 15.4" screen all for £391 .......(http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L300-1AQ/1058205/toshibaShop/reseller/toshibaShop/false/#0).
For what you got, I thought this a good deal as I wanted a Laptop capable of running a number of applications at the same time, the ability to number-crunch large ACCESS databases and EXCEL worksheet formula and be under £400.
Now when it comes to buy 'em you can't get this model for love nor money, so it's back to the drawing board to find another Laptop to the above spec. or better, at the right price.
Is there a website, that if you plug-in the specification you want, it will come up with suggestions of Laptops that might fit the requirements????

It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

Don't know of any such site off hand but with regards to your memory requirements be careful. Unless you go for a 64 bit operating system you will not be able to use the extra memory. A standard 32 bit operating system will only see around 3Gb of memory. The exact figure will depend on the motherboard but no where near the 8Gb you're looking for.0

Just got an Advent 6552 (on my son in law's recommendation - he is IT manager for a large multinational). This has Intel Dual-Core T3400, Windows Vista Premium, 3072MB DDR2 RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Super Multi Optical Drive DVD+/-RW and 17" widescreen display. Cost £3990
