Just had a new phone line installed by BT and have had a call from a double glazing firm. Anyone know how they've got the number so quickly?

Did the caller know your name?
Usually, such calls are dialled by a computer rather than a human.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
It used to be someone else's number. It could be on any number of company lists, I would do that TPS thing asap.0

Yes, they knew my name so not someone's old number.0

register with tps and think back to who you gave the number to.As asking for you personally is unusual as it is usually someone else they ask for. it must be a recent businees you dealt with who has passed your number on.0
