Changes to forum and compatibility with current format?

Do the planned changes to the Forum, alter the formatting of user posts in any way - e.g. the use of bold, italics, specification of monospaced fonts etc.? If it does, I would appreciate some detail, so that I can make necessary amendments to the SOA Calculator that is widely used on the DFW board (see below).
The SOA Calculator has direct support for the vBulletin discussion board format which MSE uses, so that users can copy and paste their SOA into DFW for discussion and comment.
Thanks
Clariman

Good question. I just tried an SOA on a different forum using a newer version of vBulletin and the formatting went a bit skewed.
Not very scientific as it could just be a quirk of that board, but shows it was wise to ask.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

... and it would be nice to get an answer! Not very scientific as it could just be a quirk of that board, but shows it was wise to ask.
I'm not going to be able to look at it after the weekend, but have a fighting chance of sparing half an hour tomorrow at some point if it needs any changes.
Could someone from MSE let us know what the change the Forum consists of please? If it is just the layout of the boards etc., then that shouldn't cause a problem, but if it is an upgrade/customisation of the vBulletin software, then it could have an impact.
Thanks

The intention is for the end user experience to remain as it is now, but as stated elsewhere this is a major upgrade and we cannot guarantee a completely identical experience.0

Thanks Ian - but when you say it is a "major upgrade", do you mean that the forum software itself is being upgraded or even replaced e.g. are you moving to a different version of vBulletin? If you can give any more details then I could maybe do some tests in advance. The intention is for the end user experience to remain as it is now, but as stated elsewhere this is a major upgrade and we cannot guarantee a completely identical experience.
I appreciate that this is just an incidental little question amidst the changes that you are planning, but something a little more concrete would be useful.

As long as it's not like the last experimental colour scheme.
