Housing / Council Tax Benefit uprating whilst on IB with an age addition

Options
Has anybody had their annual Housing and Council Tax Benefit uprating notification.

Was the Total Weekly Income correct against what the DWP has written to you about?

I am sure that this must of confused some councils for at least mine as they have got my figures wrong and I am banging my head against a brick wall!!

Contributory incapacity benefits
7.8
From April 2009, customers in receipt of incapacity benefit without an
age addition will have their benefit up-rated by the Rossi index (6.3 per
cent.) in line with Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s
Allowance and Income Support. Those customers who receive an age
addition will receive a cash increase in their overall benefit amounting
to at least half of Rossi (3.15 per cent.).

HB will often end up with the wrong figure as they usually cannot distinguish between the differential increase of different elements of IB (happens with State Pension too). Give them a call telling them the correct rate. It usually only makes a difference of 1 or 2p a week at most.

    Hi.

On most systems used by HB authorities, we simply input Incapacity Benefit short term lower, higher and Long Term. It is therefore impossible to distinguish between different types.

In my council, we uprated all INB claims by 6.3% just to get us through to the end of year. We know that some were only increased by 5% however so will be doing a clear up after Year end.

As the previous poster has said, give your authority a bell and they will amend it for you
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

I went in to the council's offices with the DWP letter over a fortnight ago and still no resolution!

The rent card came through yesterday with the incorrect figures
