Any recommended changes to Avira Antivir default settings?

I have just converted to Avira Antivir Free from AVG and would be grateful if any of you guys that are familiar could recommend any "must do" changes to the Default settings?
The defaults included:

1. Medium Detection level
2. Extended Threat Categories for Detection - were just the defaults (left Games etc. unchecked)
3. Normal Start (for Guard Start Mode)

I prefer safety rather than speed and can check for false positives with VirusTotal and Jotti if the settings increase these. I also logon at random times so tend to scan manually when I am doing low demand things on the PC.
Will be reading the pdf Manual for it, so you can give brief information and I will find how to do what you are recommending in there. Many thanks for any advice you can offer.

Posted this at lunchtime but did n't get any replies. Would be grateful if there is anyone logged on now with experience of this Antivirus, and any tips to offer. Thanks.

Id leave deafults as they are. The only thing I change is I switch off the auto scan feature (If it still applies)

Thanks for that aliEnRIK, I was n't sure whether I should have set the Detection level to HIGH but I will leave it at Medium and just look at turning the auto scan feature off.
