'It's a blatant trap': Fraud trial judge slams 'irresponsible' MBNA for sending credit cheques to man on benefits
OK the defendant was wrong to cash the cheques but good to see a Judge rollicking MBNA for putting temptation in someones way .

The judge quite clearly said that the accused man was not wrong to have cashed the cheques.
He subsequently committed fraud and that was the crime of which he was convicted................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
He wasn't wrong to cash the cheques if he intended to pay them back. He clearly didn't though so it was wrong!
Yes the company shouldn't have sent them to him but this is entirely his fault. It's not even like he was desperate so he spent them on things he needed.Wedding 5th September 20150 -
I'm in no way defending MBNA here but how were they supposed to know if the man was on benefits or not?0

It's a valid point I would say. Unless he told them he was on benefits then they aren't going to know.0 -

The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Oh another case of "I am a victim, I am not responsible, I was forced to commit to a CCA" idiots, get a grip on your lives and take ownership for your actions, childish, immature and quite frankly "spineless"

I would hardly say they were 'slammed'.0

Seriously MBNA are not the best company, one of my 15 year old cousins applied for a Credit card (Dont ask why lol) And he ended up getting a letter saying he was declined, but then another one a couple of weeks later saying he should call them, they will process his application and issue a card with a £3,000 credit limit! I was shocked!
So his parents told him off and he cant leave the house now.
Well this guy, should pay every penny back. He knew this money had to be paid back, and spent it on useless stuff! I mean come on a quad bike! !!!!!!!
So there both to blame. either the judge was high or was drunk lol
and i would not mind having him as my judge if i ever get in trouble with my credit cards! lmao0 -
I think the saddest part of this case is ;-
'admitted fraud and was conditionally discharged for two years. He was ordered to pay £150 prosecution costs.
What kind of deterrent is that ? As per usual, a slap on the wrist, a ticking off ! It's no wonder there are so many people who think nothing of spending someone elses money and having no intention to repay it.0
