Tax Credits and childcare help

Im am currently working part time in the evening and am looking to work full time during the day. Ive phoned Tax credits who directed me to their websites to check what i would be entitled to childcare cost wise.
my husband earns around £24000 and i am currently on £4200 and would go up to around £12500. we get a fair amount of tax credits at the moment, around £280 a month. when i had a look on the website it said we would only be entitled to £100.10 a month. I gave them a phone and they couldnt confirm anything so i really dont know if its right.
surely we wouldnt have to pay the full childcare costs as its around £1000 a month for both children so i basically would be working for nothing.
im just a bit confused as to how people are meant to get back to work if they are getting no help. it seems to stupid that i really want to work and cant afford to.
any help or if anyone else was in same situation with this would be really appreciated!

have you looked at www.hmrc.gov.uk there is a table which shows tax credits with childcare and 1 without? Also a calculator where you can put your details in say now and then imput again for you taking the job and having more childcare.
If you put details in after monday it will give figures for the new tax year.
I am in a simlar situation, and the cost of childcare seems like I will work for nothing as my `increased` earnings mean we earn too much as a couple to claim childcare back.
So that means I have to look for term time or evening work.0
