Earning xtra cash

I'm feeling happy and want to share with fellow MSEs (my friends think I'm a loon for my recent turnaround regarding money) Anyway, I advertised a yoga class and got a good response - looks like I can teach 2 classes a week, giving me an extra 35 quid a week for doing something I love and within walking distance of my house- yeahhh! On top of my regular job I also teach ESL to business men and some oaps, the pay is not bad and it vastly increases the amount I can throw at 'the debt'.
What do you do for extra money? (anything illegal or racy? ;) )

I've been selling all our old baby equipment on EBAY, we paid hundreds of pounds for stuff we've rarely used and the resale value on EBAY has been excellent far better if I'd tried to sell the items at a car boot or in the paper. We're not having anymore babies (OH made sure :D ) so it's turned out to be a good earner though I've just about sold it all now.
I've also been working extra shifts at work when I can fit it in and usually when I have a week's holiday. I haven't tried to do anything completely different yet though I am thinking of writing an ebook.

Wow I have just noticed how well Moozie has done since 23rd February!
    :j :T :j :T Well done YOU! :D

I sell on EBAY and Amazon although this isn't to be relied on & I am running out of stuff now.

I am quite good with explaining to people how to use computers/applications on computers (face to face) and I have been mulling over the idea of if I could do this for some extra cash mainly with older people who are starting to come online (as most 11 year olds could probably now teach me a thing or two ;) ) as they seem to need a bit of encouragement and assurance that the PC will *not* blow up if they press the wrong button & also teach them the pitfalls of phishing etc etc.

But I don't know....it seems a little bit like taking advantage of someone just because they don't know so much.

I've got a bit fed up with fussy buyers on Ebay, however I've still got a stash of Boden clothes to sell, plus a few assorted items.

I've sold some books on https://www.greenmetropolis.com plus Amazon, the Amazon ones aren't worth my while as I only got pence for them.

I've done some babysitting, I'm CRB checked so that might be an avenue to explore further, also I'm qualified in Beauty Therapy, although I don't work in the industry, I've got a couple of Wedding Make-up's booked at £50.00 a throw.

The above is in addition to working 22 hours in one job and 9 hours in another, plus attmepting to run my household and look after my family. It's real fun sometimes!! Have a good day every one!

  • LookingAhead - I don't think it's taking advantage of ppl - you should go for it as you have skills that are useful to others. Market yourself right and you could earn a nice bit of extra pocket money! If you feel like giving something back you can always volunteer some of your time (that's assuming you have some free time!), it's an unexpected gift you can give to others and will make you feel warm inside

Sparkel - can't you charge more for your yoga? Round here it costs £7-10 per person per class.

  • Skintchick - it's quite difficult where I live (rural Japan) as people aren't really prepared to pay so much. The lesson is taught in English and no-one speaks good english around here so it'll be a challenge! I've got no idea if it'll work - hope so!

I'm looking into doing a few websites for small businesses. I figure I do them for free for friends as it is so maybe it's time I make a little profit from it or barter :)
So for this week: I build one website (cost of registry etc is paid for by client) and I get taught something I have always wanted to learn! How to drive a horse carriage! Ok so this won't earn me anything but it's something I would have paid money to learn and it's not really any skin off my back :)

I am not in debt but am trying to save for a deposit on a house.

I work full time, 37hrs/wk in theory but normally at least 45hrs/wk at the mo (no overtime pay :()

I am also a member of a professional church choir which pays £24/week plus £50 for weddings/funerals. This is well below the going rate due to church's current financial problems which are about to be sorted out, so should be going up (to £35-ish I hope) within the next year. This is for 1 hour rehearsal, 1 hour singing, and adds up to about £1300 a year after a couple of Christmas and Easter extras are added in. I also get the odd paid singing job elsewhere, usually £50-£100 for a wedding or funeral.

I've just started doing online surveys etc. but am not expecting vast riches from this! Ebay selling will begin soon but I don't actually have much to sell.

If I was ever in difficulty, for example if after I've bought a property my main income decreases for some reason, the first thing I'd look at is ushering in one of the major London concert halls/opera houses. Flexible shifts and you get to hear the concerts for free :D I already get a lot of very good free opera tickets by being an (unpaid) opera critic on an international website.

I'd also consider training in ESL/EFL teaching as I have an English Language degree.
