That is utter tosh, I have at least 10 savings accounts at Nationwide.

 Really! I dont know why they have told me that then if it isnt true- ive still got the email from their customer services that says that so I am going to challenge this now! I thought it was a very bizarre rule!

Actually here is the exact response I got;....
    Dear Miss Fraser,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

As the Regular Savings offers a competitive interest rate, it does state in the terms and conditions of the Regular Savings, only one account is allowed per account holder.

    Regards,

    Nationwide Customer Services Team.

Ah you can only have one 'regular savings account' but does not say you can't have other savings accounts with NW - have a look at the other accounts they offer and see if you can open one of them. I have one regular saver, e savings, esavings plus and some bonds for example.

Ok thanks, this makes sense but I did ask for any other savings account that we can have jointly- obviously the dim customer services person didnt quite get my drift! I will have a go again and be a bit more 'specific' as to what I mean.
    Thanks Orangeslimes!

Lish, tell your partner to try to get a business account with Abbey Business.

I have been with them for about 5 years and have saved a bundle on bank charges as they give free business banking for life.

Its all online (you post cheques off in the prepaid envelopes they provide) you get a cash card and you can do BACS online. Its very quick and easy.

I have had no problems with them other than when I had to transfer a large amount to a Dutch company in Euros (but that got resolved in the end).

    I can highly recommend them.

They will also take care of transferring an existing business bank account over to them for you.

I work in a bank and we do a credit check for savings accounts. It is not a full credit check thought as savings accounts are not credit products so any 1 can really have a savings account

They do check electoral role and also fraud prevention agencies. If any of these things are on there then it should show up on experian or equifax. There may also be an assocaition there with another family memeber or ex?

You can only have one e-savings account (and e-savings plus account) per Flexaccount but there is nothing to stop you having multiple Flexaccounts. I have a Flexaccount in my name, one in my wife's and a joint one. I only set these other ones up when they reduced the limit on cash withdrawals from £500 to £300 and I needed to draw out more than this when abroad. You can elect not to have cheque books for the Flexaccounts and keep a zero balance in them and just put what you want in the linked e-savings accounts.

Maybe trying a Building Society instead of a bank might be more hopefully. Worth a try. Good luck.

No - you can only have one e-Savings Plus account but you can setup more than one e-Savings account.
