Boots - surely we have to walk on them and not fly?

The assistant seems crap. I'd definetely complain more.
I've had a pair of shoes I've only worn twice and the insole on one has fallen right off! I didn't take them back as I thought I could fix it, but then I lost the insole bit! Well I guess it was my fault for dancing in them too much on my 18th birthday lol. (They cost about £12 I think, and could barely walk in them anyway!)
I have had a pair of boots (about £20 I paid for them) that have lasted me for years.0 -

definately try again! i bought a £20 pair of billabong? sandals from TK Max and within 2 weeks, 4 wears, the bit across the toes completly fell apart. it was flapping around! i took them back but the lady wasnt convinced i'd not worn them too much, even though i had my reciept to proove it was only 2 weeks.
THEN i pointed out you could still see the small pencil code they write on the bottom - it would have worn off if i'd used them too much surely?!
She agreed she could read it, and then checked the date they went on sale, and then said it was the clerks fault for putting the pencil marks on the wrong shoe! very odd. anyway, i got a full refund.
so... can you see any pencil marks? or is that practice just TK Max?Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -

OK I think I am not very good at this, can someone give me some input please this is what I have written!I am writing to inform you of my dissatisfaction with the products and service I have received from Shoe Zone. On the 11th March 2009 I bought a pair of boots from your firm for £16.99. I have lightly worn the boots a total of 3 times, mostly indoors. They are now unusable as the heel has worn down.
On the 1st April I went to the Preston Shoe Zone store to discuss this matter. The Shoe Zone representative who attended to me refused to acknowledge the fact that the boots were unusable, and claimed that they were “fashion boots” and it was my responsibility to have them re-heeled so that they could be worn without damage. I found the Shoe Zone employee to be very unhelpful and bad-mannered.
I believe that these boots are not fit for purpose and would like to have my money refunded.
I look forward to hearing from you by return.
Yours sincerely

hi,
i used to be a manager for shoezone, the assistant should have given you your money back, offered you an exhange or if you dissagreed with their decision they could have sent them to the head office to be evaluated i.e to see if the damage was caused by a fault or wear and tear also if you paid by credit card they can check on till for details to prove when you brought them. i would definately ring or email head office with your complaint as the assistant was clearly unhelpful.
hope this helps

That letter sounds fine on a basic level, but instead of the generic 'fit for purpose' bit, substitute with something like:
"The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) states that goods should be satisfactory quality (including being fit for general purpose). I do not feel that the boots are satisfactory quality due to the reasons outlined above.
As fault has become apparent only 3 weeks after purchase, I am requesting a full refund of monies paid."
And instead of your last paragraph, change to:
"I look forward to hearing from you within 14 days of the date of this letter."
Hope that helps.Little lady arrived 13/12/110
