Provided that you get over the fact that he is not your partner, you will not only have to prove this to the LA but also the DWP. Not that i am suggesting that he is your partner - i personally have lived with a male friend before ( and we were def not a couple !!lol) - but the fact that he doesn't have his own bedroom may be a problem.
Anyway provided they accept that he is a non dep you benefit will be reduced by the following amounts depending on his income. These are the last financial years figures, dont know new figures off the top of my head, but you get the idea:
These are all Gross figures we do not take tax and NI deductions into account for non deps.
less that £116 p/w you will loose £7.40 HB and £2.30 CTB
£116 to £171.99 p/w you will loose £17 HB and £2.30 CTB
£172 to £222.99 p/w you will loose £23.35 HB and £4.60 CTB
£223 to £295.99 P/W you will loose £38.20 HB and £4.60 CTB
£296 to £368.99 p/w you will loose £43.50 HB and £5.80 CTB
Over £369 p/w you will loose £47.75 p/w HB and £6.95 CTB
You will also loose your single person discount on your council tax:j0 -
