Of course you can, you would have a uniform on and you would be in a postion of authority. You know what it can be like working in an office full of women and if thats how you are being treated then you are better than that. Time to step into the breech.

Write down all the positive things about you. All your attributes and go from there, build on that. i think if you think that you are perhaps not good at the written word and if you're not, any doubts they may have would be extinguished once they hear you

It's not a number of words things, more of explaining WHY you would be good for the job, and give examples.

'Evidence in support of your application'

in areas such as:
Community safety
Intelligence
teamworking
respect for race and diversity

etc

its not one little office meanie bunny...is she not supposed to be your line manager...having a good mentor in a job is invaluable, and makes a hell of a lot of difference when you are at wor - you are in an environment that is new to you, you are asking for support and you are being belittled....I am absolutely sure that as a CSO your training will be a little more constructive than that.

Community safety - are you part of your neighbourhood watch scheme? or write about your local area and how you could contribute to the 'comunity safety'. Do you know lots of people, oap's who livce alone and you would check on them.
Intelligence - how you might deal with difficult situations ie the yoof of today? eg. loitering, creating noise.... , or public disturbences?
teamworking - how you like working with others,
respect for race and diversity - taking an interest in other faiths and cultures?
