It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Sammy, it was suggested we have a DFW book club thread, but we were sent to the existing thread in The Arms.

I like Tess Gerritsen & Karin Slaughter & Michael Connelly & Harlen Coben.....in fact I'll read pretty much anything :D

Well done on phoning Npower Bookie.

    Dear Cowbag,

Let me start off by apologising for using my phone yesterday. I should not have been and for that I am sorry.

The reason I am writing you this email is because I have a few issues that need to be raised, however, I dislike confrontation and feel that perhaps this will be the best way to initiate discussion.

Whilst I agree I was in the wrong for using my phone yesterday, I feel that the way you spoke to me, and the tone you used, was meant to belittle me in front of my work colleagues, and clearly designed to embarrass and humiliate. If there was a problem with my conduct, I would expect you to speak to me privately about it in the first instance, so I could address the issue as soon as it ws brought to my attention.

In the past few weeks, I have felt more and more upset by the treatment I have received whilst at work. It is affecting my performance and is now affecting my home life because I feel so upset.

I feel that I am constantly being watched with a critical eye and small 'gestures' (eye rolling when I ask a question for example) are putting me under undue stress. In addition, I feel I am not getting the support I need to consolidate the large amount I have learnt over a relatively brief period of time, in an industry that is new to me.

An example would be when you asked me to issue a new Ocean policy. I asked for assistance with this and you told me I had already had done one. Regardless of whether or not I had done it before, I was asking for help because I was unsure of how to proceed. I feel that when working on a task that is new to me, I would rather ask questions and get it right first time than make errors that have to be corrected further down the line.

This is only one of many similar incidents. In situations such as these, I feel undermined and embarrassed, and am now reluctant to ask for help.

I trust by bringing this out in the open we can find a way to work together that is suitable to us both. I am copying in Cowbag2 as a matter of courtesy.

    Moi
