    with my hard earned taxes,

What hard earned taxes? You said you are on benefits. It's our hard earned taxes that will pay for your legal aid.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

AFAIK Being on benefits doesn't automatically mean you qualify for legal aid anyway.
  • The bank has not recovered its losses from the government, you are forgetting one important factor. The cash was loaned to the bank from the government in return for shares in the bank. Therefore the bank will be paying the government back. This is a definate no go.

I don't think you will get Legal Aid for this as your chance of success would need to be estaimated, and I personally feel your chance of success would rest in that first box marked 0 - 20%. You must pay. NatWest need to money to meet their pension demands.

In fairness to the o.p. income tax is not the only tax. Proportionately their tax burden will be much higher than a working person.

Maybe, but how can their income be described as 'earned'?

By using the meaning of the word earn and not simply attributing it to being in employment. :money:

Just a quick update here I have decided that I will stop all repayments and try to start a test case supported either by interested parties or legal aid as I am on benefits anyway.

I feel this is actually uncharted waters but I am keen to gather anyones opinion or maybe you would like to join me in a class action say against the Nat west bank or Capquest or Aktiv kapital.
There is a thread on the consumer action group website which is a mass complaint for the harrassment etc from debt collection agency's and also banks, you may wish to have a look on there. It is now 38 pages long and the information posted is quite worrying,

Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
