Hi all,
My Laptop HDD died and I needed to order a new one.
a few MSEs sent me some suggestions and, trying to be clever I decided to get a similar HDD to the one that was suggested. Only problem is that it doesn't fit!
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1585891
My original HDD (that died) was a Toshiba MK1646GSX:

It was suggested that I get a Hitachi Travelstar 5K160 2.5":
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=15648
In my infinate wisdom, I decided to go for a 320GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 2.5":
https://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?id=28607
Have I made a mistake?
The new HDD doesn't have the same connector (it looks like a 'slide in' circuitboard rather that one with pins).
If I send my new HDD back to CCL, do you think they'd do an exchange or am I stuck with the new HDD?
Thanks.

I cant see the link to your original drive but I would guess there is an adaptor on your original drive which you must transfer onto the new one before fitting.
The one you bought is SATA, they have a standard connector, if the original was definitely SATA, look for some screws to take the adaptor off the original one.0 -
Link to original HDD updated, but here it is again:

All 3 of those drives are SATA so it certainly should fit,No free lunch, and no free laptop

As mentioned some hard drives come in a cradle which you may have to remove and fit to your new drive, if you can get pictures up we should be able to confirm if this is the case.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
