Removing old Java updates

I have J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Updates 6, 9, 10 and 11 installed, a total of 511 Mb.
I also have Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 (134 Mb).
And I also have Java 6 Updates 2, 3, 5, 7 and 13 (a total of 540 Mb)
I believe I only need the latest version and can safely uninstall the others, but can someone confirm this please? So I will keep Java 6 Update 13 and uninstall all the others?

Yep, its just pure laziness on the part of Sun Microcomputers. Its not that difficult, and I don't see why they can't add a small amount of coding to run the uninstaller for any previous versions on there.
There are plenty of other bits of software that uninstall previous versions (or at least ask the user to do so manually).Lack of money is the root of all evil.

It's not lazyness, there are reasons why they don't uninstall older versions, I can't recall what though. Compatability reasons with some websites or something.
But yes, older versions should be uninstalled, I think there are security risks associated with still having old versions on your computer (aswell as freeing space).0 -
I'm sure i read somewhere that Java updates will now remove old versions (back to Update 11?), but even older versions still have to be manually removed. That's why, when I'm fixing people's PCs, I always run JavaRa, which does it all for you.

Java does remove them now (from 7 upwards I think):idea:0
