My extractor fan in the downstairs toilet doesn't seem to be extracting the smells as fast as I would expect.
How do I create some smoke to see if it is working well enough.

You can buy special smoke spray. Or find a cigarette. Or light a candle and extinguish it carefully.0

I don't want to use a cigarette as I hate the smell, and a candle doesn't produce enough smoke.
Where can I buy a smoke spray?0 -
Smoke pellets
They are just like matches, strike them and they smoke for 4 -5 minutes. Should be available at any hardware store or your local plumbers merchant.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

usual reason for fans not working well are they are bunged up with dust etc. Try taking the front cover off and have a really good clean of the fan blade and housing (try using a duster coupled with a vaccum cleaner hose. Also see if the grill outside is jammed shut or blocked with anything like ivy etc

smoke pellet used to test flues in plumbing will be the best, get smallest ones tho they will easily fill your house lol or shut the door and seal it0
