Wickes (Moffat) Oven - is it working correctly

Last year I needed a new oven and money was short so I bought a conventional oven from Wickes (Moffat). It is a built in oven at eye level which fits my existing kitchen units. it has options for heating whole oven, just the top, just the bottom and a built in grill which can be used separately. At first it seemed to work fine but I have noticed when I set it to the whole oven, it seems to start by heating up the grill elements in the top. Should it do this? Also I cannot get the drop down grill to drop down to clean the top of the oven.

I have misplaced the brochure so cannot check. Has anyone else got a Wickes oven like this? Do you think mine is faulty? It has been fine up to now and I have done nothing to interfere with it.

PS I am open to suggestions for a replacement, it would need to be brown or black and I need an oven without a fan or a fan I can turn off, as I do a lot of pastry cooking and I find the fan interferes with it rising.

As far as I can remember (left Wickes well over a year ago) the grill elements come on first to heat the oven quicker...

As for the drop down grill, really can't remember, so either give Wickes Head Office a call and see if they can get you a copy of the instructions, or go straight to Electrolux, who make the ovens...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
