I just got one the other day for the kids. MSI Mega Sky 580 with remore control, you can use it as a pvr. I tried it on my pc but picture was always breaking up, even used another aerial with amp and wasnt much better. Moved it on to kids pc 2 metres away and pictures great with external aerial/amp.
A friend up road from me 10 mins walk whos on a hill gets perfect picture with builtin aerial. I am impressed with it and you can record onto pc for playback.
I got m ine from Micro Direct. I dont think all retilaors sell it with remote control but this one said it does.

Q1) haven't got one but been thinking about it
Q2) USB2 is basically a fast transfer speed than USB - they made it faster
Q3) USB or something else? :O - Most computers built around 1998 had USB so if you have a relatively new system it would have USB ports, it would just depend on the age for it to be USB2 - mind you, connect any new USB device to a USB(1) port and a message will appear (on Win XP) saying that the device could perform faster.
Q4) Graphics is what enables you to see the picture on your monitor - you have one or you wouldn't have been able to post :P.
Hope this helpsWelcome, rogerramjet.

Thank you, I did wonder about the graphics card, D'OH
another question, on freecoms system requirements it says pentium 111 cpu, does it have to be pentium?
the pc is new, bought this year windows xp sp2, lots of ports, even found some hidden on the front of the tower ! just not sure what they are ......................0 -

Thank you, thats a good price.0 -
It'll be powerful enough.
Doesn't need to be specifically a Pentium - e.g. I use mine on an AMD64.
Works fine but
a) you do need a better aerial than that supplied, and
b) it can break up a bit - think that's more down to me using an internal aerial than a failing in the stick as such.
For £30-40, it's worth the money.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
Fantastic, thanks for the help. I am going to treat myself and expect to be back needing help when I muck up setting it up !0

Freecom do one that is excellent just remeber you have to be in a freeview area to use them.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
Mortgage - £2,000

as already mentioned any new system would be ok Pentium 3 relates to processor speeds, I used to have a Pentium 3 which was a 500mhz speed, I think they used pentium 3 up to around 1000mhz (1gig) then they become pentium 4 (Pentium is the Name Intel gave to their processors and I don't mean Intel in these forums
, AMD called their processors Athlons)
Ports are prolly USB (will be USB2) possibly Fire wire and sound input/outputWelcome, rogerramjet.
