DLa and DMP's

Options
I'm sure at least hope that most on here who are on a debt management plan know this but just in case......

I spoke to National debt line yesterday as I have a dispute over a debt with a DCA. Anyway the really interesting bit was that if you are on DLA and a DMP if you include your DLA in your income you are also within your rights to debit it on the expenses side as care needs. So do not include you DLA as money to pay debts as it is not for debt it is for your needs. :)

I was on a dmp with CCCS until recently when things changed so had to take it on myself. CCCS didn't tell me I could take the DLA for me and not for surplus money for debts. I first contacted CCCS in Feb 2005 so this may have changed now but up until a change I had back in September when I needed a review I wasn't told any different. Having said that CCCS were brill.
:)
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

  • There are very few instances where DLA counts as income.

Yes i know that now but if you go to CCCS with a dmp they will class it as income unless you tell them otherwise.
