MP3s, iTunes, nothing working - help!

Evenin' all,

Ok. The problem I currently have is this:

When I buy music from iTunes, and burn it to a cd, it will play on the computer, on an ancient laptop, and a cheap crappy CD alarm clock, but not the car stereo or the stereo at home. So, we thought, that's fine, iTunes is having problems, we'll convert the files over to MP3 with software which we bought and that'll work.

Nope.

Fine, we'll buy the music through Napster, burn it onto a CD. That'll work.

Nope.

Please, someone, what's going on? We have spent £££££s on this, and we can't play the music at home. This has never been a problem before.

The only thing we have changed is that the CDs are CD-RW and are Tescos own, but I can't see that making a difference. The laptop we use for iTunes was bought in Sept last year, and the one I used for Napster last month - could this be the cource of my problems?

Any help gratefully received - we're at the end of our tether.

T x

Some CD players can't play CD-RWs, and Tesco's own CDs aren't going to be very good quality.

Really? Could it be that simple?

I'll get down to town and buy some better quality, non-RW cds tomorrow.

    Thank you Marty!

If you can borrow a CD-R from someone, it would be a pretty easy way to find out.

I know, and I would too - but we live in the middle of nowhere, I'm a student nurse on placement and have no friends with me on placement, so it's actually easier to buy some. If it doesn't work, I'll be able to use them to save my essays onto.

    Thanks again :)

also, i think you are charged per track to burn tracks to a cd with napster.

itunes, its free to burn to a cd, but you are limited to burning the same playlist 5 times with itunes store DRM prtected tracks

I bought the last album from Napster, so I thought I could burn it as many times as I wanted. With iTunes, I've never tried to burn a playlist more than 5 times, so I've never encountered a problem there.

I'll try the different disc tomorrow. If I'm back, you'll know it didn't work!

    Thanks for the advice.

iTunes doesn't have any DRM protected tracks anymore.

are you burning the music as data or MP3 CDs or as finalised audio CDs? You should be choosing the latter if you want it to play on any CD playing device...
