Please Help My Friend

I have a friend who bought a car from Evans Halshaw in Mansfield, after first passing her test, for £2500. There was an engine warning light and apparently was leaking oil a few days later so after hassling them they agreed to pay for repairs. So on the way to a local garage agreed by the dealership...the car burst into flames.

Now the dealerhip is trying to say that it is not their fault. Its apparently not her fault either...but the 'independant investigator' won't give them a reason why the car just spontaneously combusted.

So now they are ignoring her please, she doenst want to claim off her insurance because she doesnt believe it is her fault - so the insurance company are obviously not interested in helping...and the trading standards haven't offered her any advice at all.

Basically, she doesnt really know what to do as lots of people are offering conflicting advice.

Anyone on here help please?

is she in the AA or RAC - think they used to give legal advice re car problems. Also if she has Barclays Additions they have a 24 hour legal helpline. Other than that - for £2500 I'd go thru insurance and get them to argue for her.

How would that affect her in the future for permiums tho?

I guess that the insurance will determine whether or not it is the garages fault then?

    Thankyou!

Well, if this is her first insurance policy, which she has only just taken out and she has only just passed her test then there should not be much difference. She is already paying "maximum risk" as it is.

Get her to claim on the insurance. That is what it is for after all!
