I just got the lastest electric bill for the last quarter and it is £705.38 :eek: I was wondering if some one with experiance could look at the details and let me know where I stand as Eon said the figures are correct Im not too sure they are...I know the bills for quarter 2 + 3 were estimated as I missed the meter man.

I live alone in a two bed flat and work during the day. Everything is powered by electric (no Gas) the heaters are eco 7.

March 2008 March 2009

Meter 1: 89691 Meter 1: 94229 = 4538

This year I have paid;

Quarter 1: £118.58

    I'm assuming that you have storage heaters and they are on Meter 2. Well, it's a hell of a lot of electricity but that's the nature of the beast with storage heaters. And you're using about 12 units a day peak rate - fairly high in your circumstances. Any other heating.

    Or do you have panel heaters and Meter 2 is your daytime rate?

    Have you taken your own readings at any point? Are you sure these relate to your meter? How much are you using the heating - how many heater, how many hours per day, months per year? Have you got your immersion set correctly?

    Hi mawey,

    £705.38 is a lot for one quarter but if the previous two bills were estimated then I can understand how this may have occurred.

    Can you confirm the two rates are being charged correctly? For example is the night reading the same as the night reading on the bill? Or is your night energy usage being charged at the day unit rates.

    The chance of the above happening is slim, however this is definitely worth checking by carrying out a quick check.

    All you need to do is read the meter at say 10am and then boil the kettle (or run anything else that will consume a unit or two) for 10 mins, then read the meter again and one reading will have advanced, this will indicate the day time rate.

    Then simply check the similar reading is the on the bill as the day rate. If so there is no error with the billing.

    It’s a good idea to check the meters regularly and keep your own readings, you can even provide them to E.ON via the website, and this would help eliminate the chance of estimated bills. :cool:

    It is likely that high usage is a result of the electric heating as pointed out by other posters, E.ON can offer you advice on how best to use this type of heating and use it efficiently to its full potential.

    I’d definitely give E.ON a call and speak with the consumption team if you are concerned or if you want some advice about using the electric heating, when you know more about the heating system you can start to see where the energy is actually being used, it can really be a bit of an eye opener. :D

    Hope this is some use.
