Hi, We had had people calling at our door twice in the last few weeks saying they are from the Red Cross. The first time my husband answered the door and they asked for bank details and he said they seemed dodgy. He didn't give them any personal info.
Today I have answered the door and they were wearing Red cross tabards and gave me a bit of info on Red Cross and said they are trying to get a million pounds and they are asking people how much money they could give them at the end of the week? itold them I would support the charity throughtthe website after doing my own research and they went away quickly. They said my neighbour would give £1.50 at the end of the week.
This all seems odd to me and I wanted to ask people on here if the Red Cross do come round houses asking for money?? I have only had charity bags and donation envelopes before but I know charities are finding it hard in these difficult financial times. ........... but if these people are dodgy I feel I should contact someone at the Red Cross

Am aware the Red Cross do have people coming round houses as it can be a valuable way to raise awareness of their work and raise funds. All collectors should have proper ID. There is some information on their door to door collecting at the link below and the information also includes details of the postcode areas in which they are working

from this site. "If you require further reassurance please contact our supporter care team on 0844 87 100 87, who will be able to verify the legitimacy of a fundraiser. Alternatively you can send your questions to supportercare@redcross.org.uk."0 -
Thank you 2muchdebt - through your link I found a page that tells you which postcodes they are working this week - it seems they were 'real'. Sorry to think bad of anyone but you can not be too sure of people at your door as I am sure you can understand.SAHM Mummy tods (born Oct 2007) and dd (born June 2010)0
