charge question

Just a quick question for you guys, i moved house a while ago and forgot to change my address with an old bank account i dont use, to cut a long story short i had a direct debit bounce and recieved a nice £20 charge. This put in in a overdraft i dont have on the account, so they have been charging me £20 per month for about a year or so. I now have a £500 bill, only problem is the bank have closed my account and have passed this on to a debt collection agency, can i reclaim these charges from an account they have closed??

Thanks for any replys

    Hi Stokie,

Yes you can claim from a closed account. Write to the collection agency and tell them the debt is in dispute as it is made up entirely of bank charges. Generally they will pass the debt back.Write your preliminary letter to your bank to start your claim.

    Best of luck!
