First thing is to check the wiring where it enters the tailgate, quite common for the wires to break at this point, simply due to constant opening and shutting the tailgate. Just pull the rubber cover back and give the wires a gentle tug, you'll soon see if any are broke.
Failing that you'll need to remove the trim and see if you've got power up to the central locking solenoid. If so it's probably a knackered solenoid.
