Npowers "Fixed for Free" extension until June 2009

I am a dual fuel customer of Npower and I would like to warn of a dubious deal being offered to customers on their fixed for free tariff whereby the prices per unit of each fuel type has been fixed until March of this year.

A letter has been sent to each customer suggesting (with the heading: Relax, you don't have to do anything) that Npower will EXTEND this offer through to June of this year.

When I contacted Npower I asked if the current tariffs where lower or higher than on the Fixed for Free deal and was told they are lower! AND likely to go even lower in the near future!

Needless to say I have directed Npower to scrap this extension to the fixed rate and resume on the current rate.

This seems to be a scam to me as many people will do exactly what the letter suggests and relax until June while Npower makes a few more millions.

Am I being paranoid?

That, I would hazard a guess, is a lie.

If the prices were likely to go down wouldnt they call it "CAPPED for free" instead?

I'd say you were right to be suspicious!
