Just been calculating my gas and electric usage. 4 adults in an end of terrace, standard gas fired heating with a non combi boiler and an open fire in lounge, tumble dryer used about 2-4 hours a week, PC left on 24/7 all energy saving bulbs, heating was on 24/7 on 20 degrees over the coldest period at xmastime.we have used:

Sept - April.

Gas: £646.54

Elec: £479.06

Can see that usage has dropped lot over last few weeks:

16/12/08 - 13/02/09 (8 weeks)

gas = £276.58 elec £171.99

14/02/09 - 01/04/2009 (6 weeks)

gas = £128.30 elec £113.81

is this reasonable? On BG click online 6.

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

    Family of six - more careful than you if I remember correctly from a previous thread.

    Last six months:

    Gas 19611kwh = £589
    Elec 2516kwh = £277

    I'm quite pleased with that as we were paying about £1600 a year and I think we'll be under that now.

    Cheers Magentasue,yeh I am well aware that our usage is above some peoples, but I cant do any more to make the others save energy, I have BANNED the heating now, and I am going to go round turning everything off at the plug at nighttime or when not in use, see if that makes a difference. i know that we will catch up with what we are in debit over the summer, but I really would like to enter autumn with a credit balance rather than a big fat zero!
