Are they trying to do me?

Hi all,
Can anyone help me with this .......
I purchased a 3 year old car from Perrys on 6th jan this year.
It came with a free warrenty for 3 months.
I had it checked at a Kia garage to see if any problems before this was up
they came back to me with a number of things main one being the wishbone brushes.
Took the car back to Perrys and ask to have these things fixed while still under warrenty,of which they did - radio cage and brakes. They have said the wishbone brushes are not covered by warrenty????

In the booklet that describes the cover it clearly states that under the suspension part brushes are covered, it does not state anywhere which type or not it only says brushes. But they are refusing to fix them. This will cost me over £200 !!

What if anything can I do about this ?

Thank you in advance

I thought I`d let you know I`ve contacted trading standarts and they said I need to find out if after 40 thousand miles (the amount the car has done) would you expect the wishbone brushes to have worn down and broken off? Does anyone out there know?
    Thank you

You could try asking on the Honest John forums lots of car people frequent that site

I think you mean 'bushes', not 'brushes'.

I would say that bushes on any car should last longer than 40,000 or 3 years whilst being driven by an average driver.

I have a 2002 model Mondeo ST220 which has now done about 72,000 miles and I have been told that my bushes will need replacing before its next MOT. It still has the original bushes and the car was bought second hand.

The bushes are not generally covered under warranty on second hand cars unfortunately.

I would advise you to contact an independant garage with a good reputation - I'm sure it'll be a lot cheaper than going to a main dealer. That's what I've done. I've also sourced some decent bushes using the internet and my garage are going to fit them at the fraction of the price that I was quoted by Ford. If I remember rightly, I'm actually going to save just over £150 doing it this way!

Better in my pocket then theirs!

Hi I just wanted to let you know I sent a letter to Perrys stating that I felt they had sold me a faulty car as the bushes should not be broken yet - and that I had contacted Trading standarts
Guess what - they are going to fix them - I do have to pay for the bushes but not the labour
    I`m happy enough with that

Thanks again for all your help x

Good luck with getting them to replace them.

I've got an 03 Focus. Done 88,000 miles and still on the original bushes all around. Car was serviced recently & still nada wrong. My previous cars required them replacing after around 80,000 miles & maybe 7 years
