Play.com stock query...

Hi all,

I have placed an order for this item on Play.com:

Placed the order last Monday and it said dispatch time was approx 4-5 working days. Fair enough, not in stock at the moment will wait.

It's now past a week so I gave Play.com's customer service line a call, who were generally unhelpful. The lady just stated that the item was out of stock, and it does say 4-5 days but she doesn't know when it will be ready. The lady herself was pleasant and did tell me that I could cancel my order if I wanted, but really I want the item.

Play.com doesn't charge you for items that have not been dispatched so I can cancel my order if I need to, but I chose this notebook cooler over the others because of the good reviews it has gained from other users.


Has anyone experienced something similar with Play.com? Did you ever get round it or did you just cancel your order?

    Ordered a DS game before Christmas that was out of stock, waited a month and eventually gave up and cancelled the order and had to pay more for it elsewhere.

    It's not really their fault but is still annoying.

    Their website is totally unrealistic compared to what they actually have in stock. eg a couple of years ago the PS2 game Manhunt 2 was banned by the BBFC. Play claimed to have stock. !!!!!!? They could not possibly have had stock. It was on their front page at the time too. I emailed them but they didn't change it.

    The games wasn't released until a year and a half later.

    They lie.

    Ordered a keychain in November, forgot about it totally and it arrived about a fortnight ago lol

    Yes, similar experience here. I ordered an item, it said it was in stock, then when I had placed the order, it said that it was a pre-order and gave me a release/available in stock date for a weeks time, when that date came, I checked, and they changed the 'release' date, this happened about 5 times in all, getting to the release date, then they would change the date, still saying my order was a 'preorder'.

    Eventually got fed up and cancelled, as the persons birthday came and went, and had to buy an alternative gift.

    Odd thing was, it wasnt for a highly anticipated game or film.....it was for a danger mouse mug!!! :rotfl:

    Every time I try to order something from play.com it tells me my card was declined even though there's no reason to. I've spent about £150 with Amazon which I would have spent at Play.com if their ordering system wasn't so rubbish.

    Hmmm i may just be lucky...everytime something states a particular timescale/date it comes within it. Processess my cards perfectly.

    I ordered something before christmas and am still waiting, completely forgot about it until seeing this thread.I'll prob just cancel it.

    I never order anything that's not in stock or pre order.
    I've ordered ALOT from play.com and i've never had any problems .....dvds, cds, gadgets, phones... everything no problems at all

    I'd give it week, then see how you feel.

    Actually, now that i think about it.... My brother pre ordered the wii when it first came out and play.com let him down and couldnt get him it. but apart from that..................:D
