Hi
I would like to get a Home Insurance and looking for the one with Legal Expences cover. Can somebody recommend a good insurance company where in case of legal claim there'll be no problems (i.e. hidden clauses, small print etc).
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks

Most of the wordings on the legal policies are roughly the same, what type of claims are you looking to cover?
I personally would worry more about the wording on the home insurance than the legal cover0 -
was hoping one which is very good for contractual or negligent issues. Any ideas?0

When you say contractual or negligence are you refering to the sale or purchase of your home? Building work on your home? Medical Negilence?
Some policies cover all of the above and some don't.
If you could say what you would be looking for we can have a look.
P.S If you want it for the sale / purchase of your home most policies insist the policy has been in place for between 90 and 180 days before the event for cover to be effective for it0 -

Thank you for your reply
I am in dispute with university. Have contacted solicitors which I want to use and they accept legal expenses insurance. So I need to know which insurance to go for so that there will be no problem using them when I decide to pursue my case against uni.
also how long should the policy be in place before the event for cover to be effective in this case?? Is it 90-180 like you stated in your post? Or it varies depending on situation??
Your reply is much appreciated.0 -
Legal Expense cover like most insurances is to cover events that have not yet happened. You will not be covered by a legal expense policy for a dispute that has already happend.
If you put a claim in they will look into exactly when the first part of the dispute started and if its before the policy start date / any excess period they will simply not deal with it (They will probably give you legal advice over the phone).
Do you have legal expense cover on a curren t policy?0 -

HI mate . Thanks for your info. Just wondering though, my issues are over a 3 year period but are still ongoing. If I was going to make a claim it would be for an event happening in the future ( i.e uni not upholding my appeal), but ofcourse in order to look into this matter properly and get a full picture , my complaint would also have to look at events from as far as 3 years.
What do you think are the chances? thanks.0 -
Somebody please advise?? Your help is much appreciated

Like I said a domestic legal protection policy will not cover for you for a dispute that has already happened, if you put a claim in the first thing the investigate is when the matter first arose. If they discover any part of the dispute was before you took cover out they will not provide cover for it.
You mention your issues are over a three year period which indicates to me there is some matter that has already arisen. If this is the case a domestic legal protection policy will simply not cover it.0 -
Thanks for your reply mate0
