I bought quite a good "Porch V Audi TT" M&S set in their sale for £20 - it is an official Scalectric product. They had a few other variations on their 20% off day - another of which is being held this Thurs.

Can't find it on their web site at the moment though

I ordered the Scorpion Strike (£30).. no problems...
then they phoned.. we dont have any, but we do have the Terror Hawks for £35 more.
Ok i said.
Then they phoned my house, I was out, and spoke to my mum.
They said they couldnt find my set, and could i phone them.
I phoned and they said that they had now found it.
So i phoned back again and asked, which have you found... they werent sure.
They then said they didnt have the Scorpion Strike, but did have the Terror Hawks... and would I like that instead?
I said, ive already chosen that one.
Oh, so they then took my credit card details.. again ::)

Its now come the next day... but I have been charged £8 delivery?

Is £8 what everyone else got charged?
It said £3.50 or slightly more on their website, and I was never told it was going to be bumped to £8.

Want to complain, but want to know everyone elses charges first.

But its still a really good price but £43 isnt £33.50

Unfortunately the micromania set was sold out. They phoned to tell me, I asked what they had left, only one set of Thunderbugs - took that for £20.

If you want one and haven't already ordered, I think you will be out of luck.

I'm still quite happy as I wanted a small set. We already have a large Scalextric which was originally my sisters (aprox. 40 years old). Want it for travelling, the other is too big to cart around. This will be ideal for taking to my Mum's.

I was charged £8 delivery too. I think this is standard for the size of the item. I do think it is quite a lot but I must say that it did come within a day or too so at least I was sure it would be here in time for Xmas.

If anyone else is after the micromania sets, toysrus had the large terrorhawks set reduced to £39.99 on their website. Not sure what their delivery costs are but it was showing in stock a couple of days ago!

Yea, I saw the terror hawks on toysrus website, which is why I then realised I had paid more than £40 to get it from alshobbies...

But still very happy , it's Xmas after all

I'm not very impressed. After I'd made the first order for the micromania demon flyers set, I received a phone call to say they were out of stock, the only scalextric set they had left was a thunderbugs. I didn't mind that, so that was agreed, due to be delivered today.

Needless to say, nothing delivered. Phone call at 5.00pm there has been an error, there stock control showed more stock than there actually was, so now I have no scalextric set, but they will refund me the money - very good of them!

My understanding is that if they have taken my money a contract has been formed. I've read something on another thread on MSE. It is either the sale of goods act, or distance selling regulations. I shall be looking into this further.

The long and the short of it is, they have sold more sets than they had in stock - I am not the only one in this situation. They have no scalextric sets left at all, and will not be getting anymore in at these prices, and certainly none before Christmas.

Do not try to order any from their website, as it will still let you order. I know, I've just tried it. >:( >:(

Sorry to hear some of you had problems - I guess they weren't prepared for an avalanche of customers from MSE! The deals did look very good though, too good? ???

Boots in King's Road Chelsea had the scalextric mini set for £40 today. Not sure if it's available in all stores
