average cost of disco hire?

Hi, I really have no idea how much it costs to hire a disco! We are wanting a disco/dj from approximately 8pm-midnight, and we are looking for them to do background music from 4pm-8pm. We have one quote of £240 so far, but I have nothing to compare it to so have no idea whether this is good or not!

I have emailed a few other people, but are yet to hear from them.. just wondered if anybody knows if this is a reasonable price I have been quoted.

Thanks in advance :)

From 4 in the afternoon I don't think it seems too bad

Last disco I got came in around £180 ish, keep phoning round and get a few more quotes first. Depends on your area also, I guess.

What about word of mouth - anyone you know that can recommend someone? Nothing worse than forking out £200+ and getting a rubbish DJ!!

thanks, I will definitely keep phoning around :)
plus, being too concerned with getting the best deal, I never considered that I could be ending up with a rubbish DJ! thanks for that, I will be sure to ask around.
  • were having disco and kareoke from 7.30pm till midnight and its only costing us £80 but then again i think it could be what area you live in aswell as prices differ everywhere in the uk dont they.

I've booked a cheesy disco from 5pm to midnight for £180. We are also having a guy to sing as well mind for 2 1/2 hours at £200.

I know a few round here charge £200 or £300 mind.

we want from 6 to 12 and were being quoted between 120 and 200 for it id love the karaoke too but cant find any round here offering it... they charge more for "extras" like disco lights lasers smoke machines ect. if u just want a guy with speakers playing music its cheaper

We were getting quotes for £500 (but we are getting married on New Years Eve), the cheapest we found was £400.

But looking at their websites on a normal sat night disco it was around £180.

    Hope this helps
  • I agree that sounds good, I need a disco from 7-12 though no luck finding one yet!

thanks everyone, I've spoken to a few other people, and so far £240 is the cheapest quote I've found. Sounds about right though comparing it to what other people have been quoted :)
