Income Protection: Loss Adjuster Visit???

Hi
Since Feb I've been claiming on an Income Protection policy(redundancy).
They didn't start paying until the end of my compensation for notice period (12 weeks)....fair enough....been living off my redundancy payment.
I've had this policy for over 5 years, and ones previous to that (I only changed to this one because the previous insurer pulled out due to "high claims" )....I was accepted with no qualifying waiting time because of this, so had been continually insured for about 12 years...
Reason I always took insurance was because I was in a specialist field, and well paid...I always knew it would take a long time for another job to be available.
Anyway, I popped to the shop at lunchtime...and when I returned, less than an hour later, there was a letter waiting from a Loss Adjuster from the insurance company saying he'd tried to visit and I must call him on his mobile!
The insurer does state that they "may" at some time in the claim " send a representative" to verify the claim.....but after 1 month of claiming? And in this employment climate?
Am I getting paranoid, or are these Insurers trying their hardest to wriggle out of paying?
There is nothing in their policy to say, for instance, that I should take, say , a cleaning job instead of my usual occupation. I thought this was the whole reason for making oneself self-sufficient if the worst came to the worst....taking out insurance, at great cost. I estimate that I've paid approx 9k in premiums.
Has anyone else had one of these "Loss Adjuster" visits? I'm feeling like I'm being scrutinised!

I suppose you are being scrutinised, but they do have the right to do this, and a duty to all their other policyholders (and shareholders) to make sure they are only paying out in line with the policy.
