10,000 Savings

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can advise me the best way to save £10,000 and maximise the return.

This would be for 12 months as i then need to put that money to some use.

This 10,000 i have gained from Shares so im not sure if i will have used my allowance?

Im sorry im not very good at money matters :o

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you've not got an ISA, open a cash ISA with the Halifax and put the maximum yearly allowance of £3000. Come the 5th of April, you can then put another £3000 in as it's a different tax year. The Halifax ISA is currently paying 5% tax free.

Put the remaining £4000 into one of the high interest savings accounts either with ICICI or Alliance and Leicester, both of whom are currently paying 5.15% (taxable).
