Scroll down to rule 174 and see how that fits with your situation.

Box junction cams are on the nicrease. I presume you were caught by a cam mounted on a pole or similar?

Have you informed the local highways department about your findings?

No, but I told them about some traffic lights that directs two flows of traffic into the same place at the same time (instead of having them take it in turns) and it was ignored so I don't think they'll give a monkeys about this either. The traffic lights in question also have a give way sign which stops cars ploughing into each other but it's still a crap design.
If I were caught at this juction, I would ask to see all photo/video evidence to see if it could be argued that when I entered the junction, the exit was clear, but that another motorists actions had served to "block" the exit AFTER I had entered the junction

So you should but this box junction is so badly designed that the council would never try to prosecute people for stopping here.

    They do!

well, not prosecute obviously - issue PCNs.

I've seen a case at that box. Quite a while ago though.

that design would need special DfT authorisation I think. Maybe it has, maybe it hasn't.
South London (well south) isn't it?
