im looking for two new tyres for my ford ka any ideas on the cheapset place?

would it be cheaper to buy them online and fit them myself or would that not be advisable due to checking they are balanced etc?

Hello Marko4ever25

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Bear in mind that cheapest isn't always either
a. safest or
b. most econmical.
That said the National cheapies are okay, although not really *that* cheap.
You can get cheaper, but I might look at a Hankook 701 (~£30 from http://www.mytyres.co.uk - fitting prices vary based on your local dealer) or Toyo 310 - £33.90 from http://www.etyres.co.ukDebt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350
Debt now: £14,100
Debt free day: October 2008 :beer:0 -
I have just had new tyres fitted to my car and thoroughly recommend https://www.mytyres.co.uk
National tyres were quoting me £99 per tyre fitted and I got mine for £52 each delivered within a few days. They have what they call "affiliates" which are independent dealers all over the country who will fit your tyres for an extra charge. I took my car and the 4 tyres in and within 20 minutes I was off. The garage had quoted me £5 per tyre + alloy fitting £1 + old trye disposal £1 which still would have been cheaper but the guy said "lets call it twenty quid" which was even better.
It's the second time I have bought tyres online and the savings are phenomenal.0 -
I also just used Mytyres. I paid £64 total for 2 performance tyres to be delivered to my local dealer, and then paid them £20 to fit them. Total cost £84 for two brand new performance tyres fitted. It's also worth trying Protyre / Micheldever group.Happy chappy0

https://www.blackcircles.co.uk i think it is, if you sign up to their email newsletter you recieve 5% discount i think. Not sure if its cheaper than mytyres as they do seem to be bargains.0

Sorry cant help you find the cheapest tyres....BUT
like someone else said cheapest isnt always best!
I have a company car and dont get to chose the tyres i have. The lease company we use now put Ambassador tyres on from ATS, I can honesty say they are the WORST tyres I have ever had in 26 years of motoring, but they are cheap.0 -

Do not get cheap tyres mixed up with “economy” tyres.
I use Continental EcoContacts which at places like Kwik Fit and National Tyres I was being quoted (in January 2006) £58+ fitted. One of my local Independents supplied and fitted for £28 all inclusive on alloys. MyTyres quoted (inc fitting at an affiliate £38 inc). So my tyres were cheap.
My advice is always phone around going to Kwik Fit first and then try 6 or so local independents. They will always beat the you cannot beat us on price big boys. I always reckon that if I cannot get anything for at least 35% to 40% less than Kwik Fit I have failed.0
