Best business bank account

Options
Hi. My O/H is setting up a small business and needs a business bank account. I know business accounts charge fees whereas personal accounts mainly don't - but obviously the less/cheaper/free banking he can get the better. It'll be a limited company account. Also his personal credit history is cr*p and he'll be a director - don't know if this'll affect anything.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Also have a look at the sticky on this board about business accounts, which I think includes some questions about poor credit histories.

  • I would say try Abbey and Alliance and Leicester, although both can be fussy when it comes to credit history or moving house. Also I gather A&L charge if you don't pay in a set amount each month, also their internet banking service is always 'coming soon'.

I am with Abbey and so far so good, but they are only good if you are receiving funds via cheque or online payment, as they offer a very basic cash handling service. The latter is notes only and via ATMS at their branches. Also you cannot access any services from the branches. The other draw back is they are a little slow, or say crap at posting out forms for adding services to the account. That aside though, they are free and I cannot complain.

    Hi

I'm with A&L and fed up of waiting for the online banking to get up and running. Anyone tried the co-op? As there's a deal through the FSB for free banking with them.

Our charity used to bank with the Coop and no complaints from me.
